As the name suggests we are a Sunday walking group, out every week and covering 12 to 16 miles per walk, often with a pub stop at lunchtime.
We now allow walkers to bring well-behaved dogs at the discretion of the Walk Leader.
If you'd like more information about our walks or bringing a dog please visit Contact Us
You may remember us as the Society of Sussex Wealdmen, formed as a Sunday walking group in 1926. We're still the same group, retaining the ethos of our founders, come hail or shine we'll be out there every Sunday (unless it happens to be Christmas Day).
The Autumn / Winter programme runs from October to March and walks are usually 12 - 16 miles long, starting and ending at the same car park with a pub stop along the route. The Spring / Summer programme has longer walks to make the most better weather (!). Every year we have a weekend away, most often held over the May Day weekend
New members would be most welcome, please visit our 'Walking Diary' page for details of walks. A membership form can be found on the 'Membership & Events' page

"My husband and I have been lifelong walkers but never as part of an organised group. Having recently retired in 2024 I was open to new opportunities to meet people and to be honest, we had become a bit lazy only walking known routes.
So when I saw the article in Lindfield life about the Sussex Sunday Walkers group I didn’t hesitate to make contact and I am so glad that I did. We were made very welcome from our very first walk and have been out over many Sundays since. We have made so many good friends all with diverse backgrounds and interests and explored parts of Sussex we never knew existed. We have also led walks and been delighted to showcase our wonderful village and surrounding area.”
